Erhu Group Class - starts March 2018
Starts Sunday, March 4th*
The Erhu Group Class is open year round to students aged 8 years to adult and designed to be a basic introduction to erhu or the Chinese two-stringed fiddle. (Thereafter initiated students should generally switch to a private program to advance their studies.)
The Instrument: Descended from the 10th Century Mongolian Xi; also known as huqin; the erhu is now the most important solo and lead instrument in the Chinese orchestra. Students will learn bow control and fret-less finger work with basic tunes of the Chinese folk music tradition. Instruments are available for rent ($30 mthly) & sale (used or new) ranging: $110-$400
*Flex Group Structure. This class runs on a 12 wk term based on 2-5 students on incremental duration: 2-3 ppl 60 min, 4 ppl 75min, 5 ppl 90min. Each class is renewable on a minimum of 2 students enrolled.
1st Call System. Mencius classes can run on our flex-group structure on a 1st-call basis: A student may sign up and be the 1st-call for a different date/time to have class and we'll post this schedule for 2-3 weeks. Thereupon, class will start and run accordingly per number of students signed up. If only 1 student is signed up, this "class" will run 45 min/10 weeks for one cycle only.*If only 1 student is signed up, this "class" will run 45 min/10 weeks for one cycle only.
